The election to determine the next Board of Directors for the Madison Area Disc Club will be held from Sunday, October 14th to Saturday, October 20th, 2012. October 14th is the day of the annual Fall Picnic. Any member who attends the picnic and wishes to vote MUST do so at the picnic. Club members who do not attend the picnic may vote at Glide Disc Golf from Monday, October 15th to Saturday, October 20th.
Five of the seven positions on the board are up for election every year. Gentry Bieker is finishing the first year of his two-year term as Vice-President, which will end in October 2013. The position of Secretary is vacant, and can be filled by majority vote of the rest of the Board at any time (contact us if you are interested). The following positions are up for vote in this year's election
President: Two-year term (Oct 2012 - Oct 2014)
Treasurer: Two-year term (Oct 2012 - Oct 2014)
3x At-large: All are one-year terms (Oct 2012 - Oct 2013)

You must be a club member to run for and sit on the board. The deadline for declaring candidacy for the board is Sunday, October 7th. You may do so by emailing the club at email@example.com , replying in this thread, sending me a PM, or commenting in the appropriate post on our Facebook page. If you are able to post to this thread, you may do so, but I need to verify that the settings allow any forum member to post in this subforum. Please indicate the position you are running for, and make sure to include your real name. We will post the names of candidates on this thread and on the main website.
We encourage interested parties to declare their candidacy as early as possible, and to provide a little information about yourself and why you want to be on the board. Again, if you email / PM us, we will copy the information onto the forum / website for you.
The board typically meets once per month for 2-3 hours, although meetings may be scheduled more frequently when our workload is high (typically in the winter and early spring). We try to find meeting times that can accommodate as many of our board members as possible, and try to rotate the meetings at public locations (mainly libraries) around the area. All meetings are open to the public, and we encourage club members and other interested parties to attend. If you have never been to a board meeting before, but are interested, we encourage you to attend the next meeting, which is this Thursday, September 13th, at 6:00 PM, at the Hawthorne branch library. We also have one more board meeting before the election, but it is on October 11th (also at 6PM at Hawthorne), which is after the deadline to declare your candidacy.
If you want to help lead the club and shape the local disc golf scene for the next couple of years, please consider running for a position. Our club is growing, and we need to keep the momentum going. Thanks!
